I have contacted the Freeview Advice Line. The adviser that I spoke to was completely unaware of this issue. I ran through the nonsense of removing the aerial, retuning and then reconnecting it again, and they eventually asked me to remove the filter (I'm now unable to get to the loft to do this) and they said that they will get back to me.

A few months ago there was an issue with the Newhaven transmitter broadcasting the wrong local news channel for a few days, and it was almost impossible to get them to recognise that there was a transmitter problem.

The curious thing, then and now, was that there must have been thousands of people affected but I seemed to be the only one to contact the Freeview Advice Line and persist in saying "It's not my television and I'm not tuned to the wrong channel". Then and now I hear many people complaining, but no one does anything.

I am amazed that when Freeview decided to make these changes they didn't realise how many people along the coastal strip had filters to block the Isle of Wight channels, and that moving COM4 and COM6 to lower frequencies was going to cause problems for them.

It appears that the Newhaven transmitter is out of action. There is no digital signal on any of the channels, but transmissions from Whitehawk are OK.
