Note new info on what happens during and after DSO published recently http://stakeholders.ofcom.org.uk/binaries/broadcast/guidance/tech-guidance/Central.pdf

A
few detail changes from above ie C60- and C62 likely moving to C49 (800MHz clearance). Doubt if C29 ever will be used for DTT, the docs state return to C/D aerial group.

I'm currently at 100% quality on all muxes, when power is raised (sometime after DSO, maybe after Crystal Palace?) I reckon a lot of attenuators are going to be needed...

@Michael - Mux 2 moves from 2k mode C68 to 8k mode C60 on the 28th so worth waiting to see what effect this has. Higher channel Nos are higher frequency and can suffer more attenuation from wet leaves on trees etc. C68 the lowest power received here, but no change as far as I can see, so the mixed modes may be confusing your box.

Mux A will move from C51 to become the new highest frequency on C62 - (will have to move again next year as this channel is among those sold off as part of the digital dividend) so we'll probably see complaints about different channels next.

@Nicholas

You seem to be picking up from Sandy Heath and Crystal Palace?. Sandy Heath currently uses C67 but presumably you get it below the digital quality threshold?

Postcode Checker - Trade View

Where did you find it say otherwise?

@Robert - presumably there are some boxes out there that will auto-scan...

@Briantist

I am well aware of the correct Channel Nos - and C62 is also in the Digital Dividend sell-off and will have to move down to C48 or similar at some point.

Interference on C68 was probably Hemel Hempstead which is using this channel till Crystal Palace DSO (despite what you have on this site!), because if you are west of Oxford it will be behind Beckley, but should be vertical not horizontal...

@Chris - some Tesco Technika boxes have Vestel internals which don't handle the "negative offsets" well, is it the muxes with C59- and C60- that are a problem? There were firmware upgrades for this issue for some boxes a while ago.

I'm sure there's a write up on this site but this doc refers to the Vestel n egative offset issue

http://www.digitaluk.co.u….pdf

but doesn't say what you can do if upgrade missed!

Jean Brennan - 151 channels is not fabulous, it means you are receiving from more than one transmitter, I'm sure Brian has a guide on this site but you need to manually tune just from the Oxford mux numbers and/or delete the poor ones from wrong Tx.

@Robert

The SDN mux is on the highest frequency C62 at lowest power so will be the first to suffer. Power is supposed to be raised next April, at some point in the future the Channel No will change down

As discussed in here

Oxford TX ArqA and B were in this mode at the end of September, so I would guess they slipped it in at DSO2 on the 28th - despite the fact that the com multiplexes are only at 1/4 of their intended strength and 1/8 of the PSB there was still an improvement compared to pre-DSO.

Users still in marginal receptions areas will be rightly annoyed by this - their reception is currently impaired due to an engineering test sending out 4MB/s unused null packets right now!

Where is the official notification of this test - and what/when is the intended use of the extra capacity? Surely unlikely to be used before Crystal Palace goes through DSO2?
