I live in the postcode WR5 1. Signal has been poor (blocky/intermittent) since the 7th September. No improvement seen this evening.

All channels are now the same standard of signal. BBC channels and radio are worse than previously. ITV and Channel 4 are better than before (they were appalling before switchover).

Using Windows Media Center. Is there anything I can do about this, or are we now stuck with sub-standard signal?

Malvern (Worcestershire, England) Full Freeview transmitter

My full postcode is WR5 1BL. I've just unplugged my booster, as advised. It doesn't make any difference. Signal strength is 24% at its highest. Some channels are as low as 1%. No visible difference between the channels can be seen though. All start off being blocky, then improve when the channel has been on for 30 seconds or so. The best is not great though - often blocky and with sound interruptions.

The old version of Media Centre had an option for choosing a transmitter. I can't find it anymore - has it gone? Would this make a difference anyway?

Thanks for your help.

Both of the following:

1) when looking at the channel source some channels have both the main frequency and the 166 MHz offset
2) Other TVs in the house all at 100% strength and quality

are true for me, although I am further from the transmitter. Oh, and the offset on mine seems to be 167MHz.

I'll be interested to know how you get on.

Sid,

Is there really no way of choosing a transmitter in Media Center 7? Am I just stuck with this problem?

Richard,

Thanks for the advice. I'll give these things a try!

I have tried the things suggested (thanks!), and still have problems very similar to those of Brian WR5.

It seems to be a Media Center issue, since my TV works fine. I'm planning to switch to Media Portal instead...
