Connecting it all up | Installing

Carla: No additional payment required. Use a coax cable to connect from the Sky box rear panel RF2 socket to the kitchen portable.
You'll need to set the kitchen portable to "analogue" (if you're in a pre-switchover area, use a button number above everything else, such as 6) and you'll have to tune the kitchen TV to the same RF channel as the Sky box (default is UHF 68).
You'll only get the same Sky channel as the living room (only one Sky box).
If you're feeling adventurous, you could add a remote eye to be able to change the Sky channel from the kitchen (you'll need to access the installer menu on the Sky box and enable the 9V power for the RF2 socket though).

Graham Booth: Mavern's PSBs are on 53, 57 & 60, with the COMs on 50, 59 & 55.
Looks like your 49 is from the Kidderminster relay (BBC A), and 25 is from Ridge Hill (D3&4).
You could try manually tuning for all three Kidderminster MUXs: 49 (BBC A), 54 (BBC HD), 58 (D3&4) and keep the COMs from Malvern: 50 (SDN), 59 (ArqA), 55 (ArqB).
Both Malvern and Kidderminster are vertical polarisaton.

John de Carteret: You're getting everything that Shatton Edge transmits. The "missing" Freeview content you're after is only available from the Emley Moor main transmitter - Shatton Edge is a relay.

Cavendish: West Runton DSO starts on 9th November, so right now there's no digital signal (but not long to wait!). DSO completes on 23rd November - you'll then have the three PSB MUXs as intended (but none of the COM MUXs - they're only available from the Tacolneston Tx).
You're comfortably inside the West Runton reception area.

Travel Channel
Thursday 6 October 2011 9:25AM

Leandrah: The Travel Channel is on Sky (251 & 252), but doesn't appear in the Freesat EPG (even though it's unencrypted).
If you want to see it on your Foxsat box, you'll need to set it to non-Freesat mode.
See:
AVForums.com - View Single Post - Humax Foxsat HDR - non freesat mode channels?
for how to do this.

kom: Press Menu, then select Settings, then select First Time Install. The box will ask for a passcode (I think the default is 0000).

paul : You can get an in-line satellite amplifier that is powered from your satellite receiver.
See:
http://www.vision-product…d=65
for an example.
The in-line amplifier won't work at the "house end" of the coax cable, since the signal has already dropped too much. Typically it would be used closer to the dish than mid-distance (i.e. where the signal has dropped some, but not too much). You might be able to use it close to the dish. Knowledge of your coax cable loss would help to determine the optimum position in the cable. It will need suitable protection from the weather.

susanne: Lots of folk in West Kirby have their aerials pointing at Winter Hill (north-east, horizontal polarisation).
Auto tuning your TV (or digibox) is likely to pick up signals from the West Kirby relay (up the hill across the road from Caldy Grange school), as these will be found "first" since they're lower frequency. There are no COM MUXs on this relay, hence no Film4.
Try manual tuning (after factory reset / default setting) for the Winter Hill MUXs on UHF channels 55, 58, 59, 61 & 62.

Pierre: Transmitter of choice at your location appears to be Oxford, and reception should be rock solid according to DUK.
Losing channels when you switch off your TV is more likely to be a problem with the TV that with reception - your TVs may need a software update.
Can you try a digibox and see if that works OK? If it does, you may have to talk to the service folk for your telly(s).
