Nick, from the parts list I would think that it was installed thus:

XG14 UHF aerial, followed by the Masthead Amp, then the combiner to combine the DAB with the UHF signal, then into the 1403 'Distribution Unit'???

I think it was more like a Kubler 1403, 3 way splitter, which retail for about £8

Calling it a 'distribution unit' is just 'biging' the product up, being as most distribution units (or distribution amplifiers as they are getter known) are mains powered.

A clever use of words to confuse the consumer, if it was called a 3 way splitter you might question the price charged for it.

If on the otherhand they combined UHF & DAB then amplified it before the splitter, I'm not at all surprised that the Muxes broke up. The TV tuners would have been swamped with DAB signal which would have had a terrible effect on the Digital C/N levels.
