Freeview retune - poor public service transmitters deal
Wednesday 15 June 2011 12:34PM
West Linton

I live in West Linton , just switched to Digital and now find we can't get most of the Freeview channels. I only want Dave, been looking forward to it for don't know how long and now find I can get total rubbish like Gay Rabbit and BBC Parliament but nothing new that I might actually watch. Why is it acceptable to provide full coverage to some people but not others? And why the bizarre choice of channels? Digital.co.uk says we should have good reception and all channels from Black Hill which is 40 miles away the other side of the Pentland hills, our alternative transmitter being West Linton which I can see from the house. So what's the chances of getting transmissions from Black Hill? Total disgrace.

I'm in West Linton (EH46), can only get limited Freeview channels and none of the good ones... Anyone in West Linton able to get reception from a different transmitter and all the channels?

Les Nicol: Thanks for help. We are a couple of miles from West Linton village to the SE in fairly open country. Checked with DigitalTV, they say we should get good reception from Black Hill but it seems unlikely to me. Trying this after 22/6 seems like only option, if Freesat won't give Dave; also we're in a listed building so can't put up a dish anyway. Incidentally we could never get Channel 5 before, at least we can now get that. Doesn't seem fair though that there is a two tier service, we all pay the same licence fee.
