I have a HD tv and still watch most programs on normal. I occasionally look at hd option and think not much better so switch back. Hopefully whenever we get super hd tvs down the road there will be a great difference between them both

michael: Trouble is once sales of something dry up
The makers of this equipment will always come out with something new and advertise as something we cannot do with out. Not something we always need but if we package it right the young especially must have it.

I am happy enough with radio channels I get on my freeview boxes. Certainly will not be splashing out on any more radio devices. Just have speakers through out the house wired up to freeview and youview.
Cannot remember last time I had a normal radio on in the house.
Just rich companies trying to get even more money out of us

MikeB Funny you should leave your comments. But I have already wired up my house to my 2 digiboxes and 1 digi TV. I already get woken by 1 digibox on a timer. So no I don't need anymore radios thank you. Plus I listen to more downloads than radio. I hooked my equipment up for wife more than me. She is very happy with arrangement and does'nt want any other channels

Of course the minute the big TV set makers see a drop in the sales of their super HD sets they will roll out their next new toy for the gullable and must have. I have hd set but still prefer my old set. Super HD what next??

MikeB There may not be a big plan to make us change what we own in your mind. But why are the adverts always get the latest this or that. Or is your phone obsolete. Most things are not obsolete but in young kids minds which most adverts are aimed at they are told it is old they need to replace it. I have a 1080p HD screen 42 inch. I only got it because my St Bernard broke my old non hd tv. But my wife and our children still prefer to watch the non HD channels. So unless super hd shows a really great change to normal HD I will still be using this Television in 5 years. But thanks for your comments anyway

Please keep Freeview I have had Sky and Virgin and they were a waste of time and money. I retire soon and certainly do not want to buy into 4g monthly to watch TV. I have a freeview recorder and youview. so that is enough thank you. Of course Murdoch and his 4g owner friends want the full pie and not just a big slice. Greed is nothing new to these people

of course everyone in the uk is going to instantly want to change to 4g??? Not. 60 million I do not think so. Quite a few people actually only use their phones to talk to people and text. Not everyones life circles round down loading on their phones.
But if you are in cahoots with the big companies of course they want you to use the internet even more. They can spy on you more as well. But stick to freeview they will not make so much money out of you either. Brians diagram shows you precisely why companies like sky want to turn freeview off

The majority of freeview and freesat use it because it is free. So when the only way to access tv is the internet does that mean they expect everyone to pay £50 plus a month to watch what we have for free now?
The majority of changes whether internet or tv usually occur when demand for old products are dropping off and big companies bring out their new wares. We are only getting everyone to digital and 1080 hd and 3g and though and behold along comes 4g and super hd. 3 years or sooner what will be the next upgrade we will be expected to buy or not be able to watch tv for free??
I am all for progress but why should we always have to pay more each time?
Leave freeview alone. If you have money and love new things every few months as half of todays youngsters do carry on paying for them

Yes we will get free broadband in our dreams. If they mention free and a speed which will give me tv uninterrupted as I get now the tv licence will have gone up by at least 20 percent. Nothing in this world is free. To watch freeview at present. 1. I had to buy a digital box 2. I needed a new ariel and 3. A licence. So leave me freeview as it is thank you. If the government says it will be better you know you will have to pay more. Plus we moan about snoops at the moment. If we end up using internet for everything we will have no privacy what so ever. I know some on here will not care but I do.
