Goodbye BBC Red Button!
Monday 14 December 2015 10:34AM

The problem with abolishing the Red Button service is that people with non-connected to internet Tvs (at present the majority) may have their computer in a separate room to their TV and it would be a considerable inconvenience for them to move rooms simply to access a service directly connected to a program they are watching.

The obvious use for the soon to be redundant BBC Channel 8 would be a BBC Gold channel featuring those programs for which they do not have to pay a huge repeat fee, namely in house productions which would be a considerable saving on the present cost of BBC3 and affordable to the Corporation.

It is ridiculous for Channel 7 to be kept empty in England and Northern Ireland. It could and should be filled by any one of the non BBC network operators. How about UKTV GOLD to be made available on freeview Channel 7?

Why is Aljazeeras no longer transmitting on freeview Channel 83 and is now only available on HD freeview. This effectively cuts out a current potential audience of several million and seems to make no sense.

The BBC have tried recently to access a potential audience by having a temporary pop up service of jazz and lately country music. When are they going to decide when and whether the permanent service is going to be jazz or country? I am sure there is a strong pressure lobby from both camps.

Why as Aljazeeras TV now gone to HD only? Surely this loses a considerable number of their viewers and for what purpose?

Can the website make it absolutely clear exactly how many HD only channels are available nationally and regionally throughout the U.K. and which ones they are?

All free TV channels in the UK
Monday 13 June 2016 10:39AM

Why is Aljazeera the only channel available on HD freeview that is not also available on SD freeview? Surely this cannot be in the interests of the broadcaster within the UK as this eliminates a large section of the population from receiving its transmissions and restricts the news channel options available. This decision needs reconsidering.and ultimately rescinding.

Goodbye BBC Red Button!

It is disgraceful of the BBC to decide to end the red button service as it has now become established as an integral part of the freeview service and should be continued if only for the use of those who do not possess a computer at home.

SDL National multiplexes
Sunday 17 July 2016 7:25PM

The new "trial Portsmouth" DAB multiplex broadcasting from Fort Widley near Portsmouth carries up to 15 local stations, many of which are locally based, and now give a great signal between Fareham and Chichester on the car radio. The best thing that has happened to the central south in radio and the stations cater for all tastes.
