Well, at least here in Northern Ireland we'll have an alternative when BBC 2 NI goes off in a local tangent.

All we need now is a third BBC HD channels to cover BBC3/BBC4, in order to replace those that were on BBC HD, but I suppose that's wishful thinking especially if the BBC are doing this to make cuts.

UTV HD coming to Sky, Freesat and Freeview

Yep, was thinking that myself James.

Firstly, they said it would be here by the end of 2012, then by the first quarterr 2013. Well, here we are approaching the end of the first quarter 2013 and still no sign of UTV HD on either Sky or Freesat. Not even a test transmission.

I thought the appearance of BBC1 NI HD would have spurned them on a bit, but obviously not.

GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

I hate old 4:3 programmes on widescreen TVs, especially through HDMI ports. No way of stretching them out to fill the screen, and you're left with two black bars either side (Far worse than the other way around, in my opinion).

Quite a few US programmes are still in 4:3, which is very annoying.

Thank goodness all UK programmes are now in 16:9

The D.O.G. on ITV 1 is very annying, though we've had one on UTV for quite some time now.

D.O.G.S are pointless in this day of EPGs. I notice Sky have actually dropped theirs.

Interestingly, on my Humax Freeview HD recorder it's the other way around. Freeview HD channels are significantly louder than the SD ones.

John:If you're stuck with a relay transmitter and Freeview Lite then the best alternative is Freesat.

Exactly Les.

With the Sky stations now on the Freesat EPG from just before Christmas there really isn't that much difference between Freesat and Freeview now. In fact, in many ways Freesat is actually better than Freeview.

I would imagine the UK TV stations (i.e. Dave, Yesterday) may come onto the platform eventually.

Divis (Northern Ireland) transmitter

Freeview from Divis is currently down and off air (obviously weather related) and nothing whatsoever to do with "lost all Freeview channels). Black Mountain was apparently off air yesterday.

Carnmoney Hill also down. Strangely, the NI Mux from both Black Mountain and Carnmoney are still running.

Thank goodness for satellite.

Hopefully "engineering" are aware of the problem i.e. no terrestrial TV throughout much of NI.
