Until recently I received all 6 muxes from the Darvel transmitter. (My post code is KA7 4RP) Lost the 3 lower power ones with very poor reception on the other 3. Had the aerial replaced with a high gain group A. Can now receive all bar 1 - ArqB (MuxD). Any suggestions. Thanks in advance

Thanks for the response. During the storm on Thursday the tv picked up the missing channels. However Friday no picture (bad signal). The signal strength for all channels except 29 (ARQB) is 8 or more (10 the highest) and the quality is 8 For ARQB strength is only 4 or 5 and quality 1.

Hi
Until this afternoon I was able to receive Digtal BBC1,2 & News. Then I was let loose with the controller and managed inadvertently to refresh the digitalk cahnnels - believing I was tuning a new DVD/Digital box. I now cannot get any of the above - neither, earlier today, could my Kitchen TV receive them. My postcode is CT18 8HU and whilst we have a Lyminge transmitter I think I am getting the signals from DOVER B. My main TV (SONY KDL-40V4000) will not let me select individual Muxes just allows the selection of a channel number.
Hope this is clear.
Thanks John

Lost Mux2 quality; on 'main' set.
Location: TW18, Xtal Palace.
RF amp in-line, near set.
Second/third sets on digiboxes, waaay down the line from the amp/splitter -- about 30 metres and on 'hookey' cable with nasty junctions.

Symptoms: Philips integrated 42" flatscreen - Mux2 (ITV, etc.) severe signal degredation, unwatchable! Rest Other channels OK. Usually all are fine apart from pizza delivery mopeds buzzing by. RF amp in-line, near set.

Worse, the digiboxed TVs at the far end of the line are fine!

Has the Mux2 signal from Xtal palace dropped, or has my ant. wandered I wonder; such that the edge conditions for Mux2 dropped of the, um, er, edge?

Please tell me that the Mux2 signal is degraded -- temporarily.

Stu: If it is a variable amplifier, then I would adjust it and see what you get. It could be that the amplifier is amplifying the signal plus noise picked up in the cable from the aerial. As the Philips set is but a short cable's length from it, it will be getting pretty much all of what the amp is putting out. Yet the other receivers will be getting less due to the losses in the 30 metre cables.

If it's not a variable amplifier, then try (as a test) connecting the Philips directly to the aerial (without amplifier and without splitting it for feeds to the other two devices). Is it better? Does the signal strength/quality meters show improvement?

Note that signal strength is of much less importance than quality. A strength could be 50% (for example) with 100% quality and so long it is solid, then there is no degradation in picture quality (because it's the quality that does matter). What I'm saying is that the objective is not to get the strength to go as high as you can get it. Indeed, too much signal can be bad, as explained here:

Had trouble with freeview pixelating on all channels after playing blueray disc. The problem seems to have been that the TV stayed on HDMI input so poor signal resulted. Checking connections is relevant but also check input on hand controller.
