Joe: If you click on the link to the Largs page, it shows the transmitter location on the map (which you can zoom in and out). If you click the DigitalUK Trade link under your post, it will show you the compass bearing and distance to the transmitter from your postcode.

MikeP:
Hi Mike, thanks for your agreement on the technicalities vis-a-vis passive splitters. However, I've come across several without ANY resistors (clearly ones to avoid!); hence my comments on impedance matching. As you say, there shouldn't be any problem with active splitters such as the SLX6 6 way (plus additional hybrids) used for the full distribution in my house.
PS for Mike B: Do you really have to be so churlish? Clearly one should first look for the obvious or most usual, but what I was trying to illustrate was an example of the not so obvious which Mike P recognised.

GeordieLad: 'Clearly one should first look for the obvious or most usual' - and if it turns out to be an unusual problem, then a local professional can sort it out.

This page is still broken. My brother lives at EX36 3DY (North Devon near Barnstaple) now but this oage suggests his local transmitter is at Bilsdale!! Yorkshire is a very long way from Exmoor!
Please can you correct this page.
Thanks

As it happens, I am a retired professional but don't see anything wrong with offering free professional advice to the possibly non-professional audience.

Cheers Steven, it doesn't show up where in that area but I'd already guessed it's on top the Largs Academy, which leads me to my next question.........
Hows the Freeview transmitter going to operate when the building is knocked down for houses as Largs will have a new one opening this year?

Joseph Tonner: If the current building is to be demolished, a new transmitter site will have to be found. If there is a large mobile phone mast nearby (or other suitably tall structure or rooftop) that might be used, otherwise you'll probably find a new mast appears nearby as a replacement site.
