I live in Ballycastle and wanted to see the freeview channels on my new TV. I discovered that many of the channels I received in Belfast were not available in Ballycastle i.e. Film 4. I was told locally that this was because someone decided we should get ,for example 'BBc Parliment ( not a hugely popular station). Can you explain why.
thank you,
Gerry Colohan

Gerald Colohan: It's because there is now a two-tier system. The Commercial networks don't broadcast from smaller transmitters. See here for an explanation:

Gerald Colohan: I think that your best bet for additional channels is the satellite free-to-air service Freesat.

I gather that Ballycastle lies low down with hills around it which prevents reception of Limavady. There are no full-service high-power transmitters in Scotland that you could pick up from either.
