steve: The likely answer is never as the Commercial broadcasters do not wish to invest in transmitters at 1000 or so small sites like Dallington Park. They achieve around 90% coverage of the population from about 80 sites nationwide. They were invited to increase their coverage but declined. The cost of broadcasting from the relay sites would roughly double their costs of transmission.

They work on a commercial basis where they generate revenue from advertisers. The objective is therefore to get as many people to view the adverts as possible at the lowest possible price.

Since the latest tv channel digital switch over many channels disappeared such as BBC2, ITV1 ETC.

The arial on the roof is in very good condition, and we have never had any problem before the swich over.

I recently bouhght a new TV . The old aerial points to to the midlands but, I get the Anglia transmissions I susspect from you. I don't mind this in fact I'm quiet pleased but,we seem to get a lot of pictialation espcecially around local news time.(I can still get midlands if it's bad) is there any reason for this and is there any way I can improve this.
I have cable Tv as well but I would rather recieve this on my 2nd tv.
I don't really want to put up new aerials if I am getting a TV service.

terry mason: The aerial is installed to receive from one particular transmitter. Presumably you are receiving the other regional broadcasts from another transmitter which may be in a different direction and probably horizontally polarised, i.e. you have your aerial vertical, so as to receive Dallington Park, but the signal is horizontal.

terry mason: Further to Dave Lindsay's post, your aerial is most likely pointing to Sutton Coldfield, with Sandy Heath signals being picked up from the rear.( both transmitters being horizontally polarised.) If the Anglia channels are in positions 1&3, with Midlands in the 800s of the channel list, this is the most likely scenario.

Hi. We're currently having trouble with digital reception; BBC channels are gone, Channel 4 and ITV channels are problematic and at one point we received French channels where ITV and BBC once were! I've retuned and we're still having disruption. What's going on?
