The sound levels on digital are substandard to the old analogue signal.
The experience of background noise on the same channel includung BBC is at the same level as a commentary so that it is more difficult to comprehend what is being said.
Also when listening to speach as on Breakfast suddenly the music the sets the different stages of the programme is far too loud.
Lastly the sound levels between channels are very disproportionate.
Why has this state of affairs not been tackled before now it is very disconcerting

Ian Barratt: I think you will find they are exactly the same.
I would suggest that you have some issue with the settings on your box or TV set.

On Saturday (12th Feb) I set up the freeview on my TV, in Old Town Hebden Bridge. It only tuned in 10 channels, BBC1 and BBC2 didn't tune. Yesterday I couldn't get any channels. I think I am receiving signal from Emley Moor. Can anyone help? Thanks

We have been with BT Vision for a couple of months. It has worked well after some initial problems were cured by using a booster.
Now at roughly 6 each evening we get intermittent pixelation and sound distortion and sometimes the tv screen goes blank or perhaps freezes. Why does this happen only in the evening? The strength and quality of the signal is between 95 and 100% during the day.
All connections have been checked.

I've just installed a new Freeview box for my old portable, and the strange thing is that whilst I am only missing a couple of channels from the list, BBC 1, BB2 & BBC3 are showing in a different location to where they should be. They are displaying on 105,106, & 107 respectively.
Is this simply an alignment problem? It seems strange that I can get the channels... just not in the right order!
Tried resetting the box and the DVB television downstairs doesn't seem to be affected. Very strange!

It is not likely to be an alignment issue.
