I would really like to know if the number of freeview channels being transmitted on the luccombe relay is going to be increased or will I be better directing my aerial towards the rowridge one after April 18th. I should add I'm resident in Shanklin and my signal reception is very good!!! Any info would be much appreciated.

Harri Ackone: No, the Commercial broadcasters don't wish to be bothered with 1000 or so small relays like Luccombe. See here for an explanation:

Will there ever be more services on the Freeview Light transmitters? | ukfree.tv - independent free digital TV advice

I tried the post code for Shanklin Theatre and it suggests that Rowridge will be best:

Postcode Checker - Trade View

If your Luccombe aerial is a Group one, then you will need a different aerial. A Group A aerial is probably the best for you for Rowridge which is a Group A transmitter. The gain of wideband Yagi aerials is lower at Group A frequencies.

If you're looking at DIYing, then I recommend that you look at ATV Sheffield's site. They have an encyclopedia of aerial knowledge and they make their products available mail order:

Many Thanks for your reply....I had a gut feeling the answer would be in the negative but we live in hope that commerce may have a heart at some point!!! I'm not holding my breath though!!!!
The post codechecker is always telling me the Luccombe relay is my best option currently hence the ? about re-directing my aerial towards Rowridge....re buying a better aerial well that's for the future as the family finances currently have other priorities and we'll just have to stick with our limited channel options but owt is better than nowt....

Just to point out to interested parties that using the postcode checker at either Freeview or DigitalUK does not always guarantee 100% accuracy regarding the info that's fed back to you. Having used it and being told I'd only get signal of any strength from the Luccombe relay just felt so wrong, so today the 18th April having seen the Rowridge mast was boosting it's signal I retuned and went from a Freeview light as in about 9 tv channels to something like 60!!!!!! Yours truly is now a very happy chappy and the money spent on a Sony HD TV with bult in Freeview Tuner a few years ago finally now seems like a very good investment.
