I live in Bristol, 48 and 49 from have always been poor, unusable levels, but have now completely disappeared, zero signal strength on both. I have to use a Skybox with expired to get BBC regular on .

I live in BS1 - central Bristol, and recently, with no obvious reasoning I have started getting very poor signals from , 4+1, film4, 5, and now ITV and similar as well. BBC seems to be one of the only fine channels. What on earth is going on?

Oliver Grills: Are you sure that your isn't tuned to the wrong ?

From your location and are roughly inline with one another, albeit that the former is vertically polarised and the latter horizontally so.

For ITV, , Channel 4+1 etc Mendip is on and Ilchester Crescent on . For Film4 Mendip is on and Ilchester Crescent . The tuned channel number is usually given on the strength screen.

My Mendips has totally disappeared. Several retunes have resulted in at all. It was a 10 signal.

Pointing the ariel at gets the usual poor ..
Has the group changed and thus I need a new aerial?

John Spillett: The William Hepburn's tropospheric ducting forecast chart currently shows that ducting could be affecting South and Southwest England, with Devon and the Bristol areas showing as the most likely to have TV and VHF radio affected by out of area signals.

I seem to have a problem with my TV . The aerial socket seems to have a loose connection. It's one of those sockets that's built into the house and I suspect that the connecting it to the aerial is the probably the original cable put in when the house was built in 1972. I think that the cable needs to be changed. In contrast, from ground level, the aerial seems to be in quite good condition and may be OK. What should I expect to pay a contractor to service my aerial system and change whatever is needed? How much more would a aerial cost? What's the best way to find a reputable aerial fitter?
