Why does channel 12 vary in output. I live within line of site of the Mendip transmitter and all other channels work well. Also my digi box keeps putting Stockland Hill stations in the low channel positions. How do I overcome this problem?

Bev: The ARQD multiplex is on low power until 2012. Most Freeview boxes put the channels on the lower frequencies in the proper places.

If you don't want this, clear all the channels and manually add in the above frequencies.

Can someone advise me please? Am at Bristol area. Can no longer receive Freeview Channel 59 (Yesterday). Get 'No Signal' message. Have performed recommended retune procedure (less RF-In, with RF-In coax)on my Humax PVR.
Thank You. Ross

Ross: Until recently I suffered extremely variable reception from Mendip (SN13).
This site provides lots of useful information on DTV reception. Howevee I called in an aerial expert who advised that in his opinion Humax boxes (which I have) attenuate the signal significantly. He said that a "mast head amp" would solve the problem and was so confident that he would fit it for no charge if it did not work.
All reception has been excellent since fitting; even in some extreme weather conditions.

Just had a new wideband roof top aerial fitted with new cable run to replace my old group C/D contract aerial. Reception is much better but I still get the occasional glitch/freeze on the weaker COM muxes. Do you think the power increase due in 2012 will clear this issue up?

PS. I live in BS35 near the Severn Estuary so this is a weaker signal area for Mendip, with Wenvoe coming in strong even on my loft aerial! (But I'm not Welsh!)

Dean: Yes, the COM changes should improve things.

I'm wondering if your set is actually picking up the COMs from Wenvoe, rather than Mendip?

Can you trying deleting all your channels and then doing a "manual add" using the above frequencies?

Many thanks for the reply Brian.

The aerial installer made sure that the set scanned Mendip only by unplugging the aerial lead until the scan reached CH50. Also NIT=West Mendip too.

I notice that a lot of aerials in the neighbourhood have mast head amps and my old group aerial had (but I had no power supply for it). With this and the rust on the aerial/condition of the old lossy cable I was happy to have a new aerial installed.

That is great news about the power increase and rather than spend more money & introduce something that may only be required for a while, I'll hang on until 2012 then.

Dean: It might be worth checking the channel allocations are correct - a lot of Freeview boxes will happily retune themselves.

Also, you have to check the "region information" for each multiplex, there can all be different.
