Gary Colby: Just to add what has already been said, you shouldn't have any trouble with reception once your aerial has been sorted. AFAIK there's no new buildings in the Concorde Rd area of the trading estate that might obscure the signal, and especially as you've implied you aren't having any issues with the other UHF channels from Mendip.

I live near Dursley, north of Bristol, and manually tune my devices to avoid picking up Welsh channels.
Recently i've noticed a problem with no signal on the bbc news hd channel 107. This is on 2 Panasonic tvs and a panasonic hdd recorder. Ie none show 107. However, a talktalk youview box which was tuned automatically does show107.
This website shows 107 being on channel 33 or com 7, but there seems to be a big discrepancy between the stations you indicate here and what i actually got after factory resetting and manually tuning to the channels you list for the mendip mast. Eg 107 and 108 et al are not picked up but 12 which should be on 56 is.
Is your lusting up to date and should i be tuning into other channels?

All the advice regarding loss of comm 5 ,is nothing related to the aerial size . modern sn=mart tvs tune automatically to the strongest signal ,when they retuned the signal to 33 it fell below the auto scaning range. so you cant receive sky new ,pick etc.

the fix is simple and cheap go to the tv manual setting and search for 33 then it will restore the lost channel.
I spent a lot of time any money changing aerials to no avail from advice from this site.

phil : Manual tuning will only restore the missing mux if you have a strong enough signal, although it is certainly worth trying. Many viewers will require a new aerial, which should be available free of charge to those who don't have satellite or cable.

Since com7 has gone to ch 36 I am having problems with it pixellating and sound cutting out when checking the signal on my you view box it was a lot weaker than ch 33 and ch 35 is the transmitter output on ch 36 at much lower power than the other two thirties channels.I can see the mendip mast on a clear day from my downstairs lounge window and have a professionally installed log periodic roof aerial. my postcode is np11 6qx.

phil: You are not correct in what you state. StevensOnln1 has explained it correctly. Sometimes for obscure reasons tuners can miss a channel on an auto scan. If you've experienced those sort of issues (and you have an adequate signal - which might mean a new aerial to achieve that!) then it often pays to do a factory reset/a complete scan with the aerial unplugged to clear all the stored information from the set and then start again.

Barrie Wreford: The transmitter power for COMs 7&8 has not changed since the UHF channel move. It is slightly lower than the other main muxes, but this should not affect your reception - especially if you can see the transmitter! This is also confirmed by the DigitalUK Coverage Checker Coverage Checker - Detailed View for your location. As others have mentioned previously, sometimes poorer reception on one mux can be due to a possible bad connection somewhere in your system. It would be worth checking through that all the connections, coax & aerial plugs/sockets etc are clean and free from corrosion or damage. I presume you have checked that the aerial hasn't moved in any recent high winds and is pointing correctly. If it's been installed for some considerable time, it could be worth checking the connections at the aerial itself if all else has failed to resolve the problem.

Chris.SE is correct in what he says about checking connections. I lost channel 36 (Com 7) on my lounge television, channels 33 and 35 (Arq. A and Com 8) worked okay, although the signal level wasn't fantastic. All other used channels.had reasonable' signal levels.

Problem was caused by a poor connection at the aerial wall box, after a bit of wiggling channel 36 returned and the signal level on other channels also increased. So the moral of the story is check connections, even if other channels are working fine.

Terry: ITV West is on UHF channel 54 from Mendip. ITV West is only available in SD on Freeview (the HD version is currently only available on satellite) so you will get a different region if you watch ITV HD on Freeview.
