Yes my older Samsung upstairs doesn't experience any problems now although it used to experience some signalling problems when downstairs previously, but can't recall the channels.
The newer Samsung downstairs is perfect most of the time its generally in the evenings that we experience the problems but then that's when we're watching the TV, our kids monopolise it before then on different channels.
So from what you're saying the signal strength is lower downstairs? Do you have an suggestions? Our ariel is internally mounted currently but needs to mounted outside soon as we're looking at having the loft converted. This feeds into a splitter which feeds a number of rooms.
Channels affected are all ITV/CH4/CH5 variations (e.g. plus one etc).

James Lewis: JB38 suggestion about putting the upstairs TV downstairs just to check the signal makes sense in view of what you've said - 'although it used to experience some signalling problems when downstairs previously'.
If two TV's are getting a similar problems from the same aerial socket, then there is a problem with that feed. On the other hand, different TV's have different tuners, and they can react in slightly different ways. Samsun might have changed the tuners slightly over the years, which might account for the different signal strength (BTW - is your signal too strong - that can also cause problems).
Your coax to the main room might be corroded, your splitter might not be working perfectly, have dodgy connections, or the socket might be loose, have interference, etc.
Frankly, being in Tucton, you should get great reception from Rowbridge, and if you put the aerial externally, it should be spot on. But if there is a fault in the chain, then there is always going to be a problem.

James Lewis: Although that said by MikeB is roughly in line with my own views on the subject, I feel that your problems could simply be caused by the signal being fed to the TV's running at a level that's a tad under what would be considered as ideal (i.e: with a good safety margin) hence any slight drop in the level is liable to result in picture glitching problems, you having reported that the problem tends to occur in the evenings somewhat backing this up, of course with variations in the sensitivity between tuners exacerbating the problem.
Another aspect concerns your aerials polarity, as although the signal predictor does not really indicate that much of a difference in reception from the aerial being mounted horizontally to that of vertical, considering the fact that you are using a loft aerial and as such possibly easy to access? then its certainly worth trying it swivelled around 90 degrees to the opposite polarity of whatever way its presently it mounted, as signal propagation can vary between these two polarities and Rowridge does transmit in dual polarities, COM channels being of a considerably higher power on vertical radiation. (H - 50Kw / V - 200Kw)
With regards to loft Vs outdoor aerials, although some of the newer properties fitted with high tech roof insulation can cause problems with reception, however in most cases very little difference is seen in signal strength if the aerial is facing directly through the tiles, even in cases where the tiles are actually wet, that said it does have to be admitted that loft aerials are never that far away from electrical cabling and which is a potential source in electrical impulse interference being picked up, gutter mounts (on soffit or facia boards) being ideal especially if used in conjunction with a Log periodic type aerial.

I have re-tuned both of our TV sets and I find thast several channels are no longer available .
ie - Yesterday -freeview 19, Dave Freeview 20, and othes. When can I expect these & other channels to be re-instated?

James Feest: You will have to carry out a "first time installation" on both sets as Dave is now on (12) and with Drama on (20) although Yesterday still uses (19), and so if after having carried out the aforementioned you find that its still missing can you receive ITV4 (24)? as that is on the same multiplex as Yesterday.
By the way "first time installation" is also known as "factory reset" or "default setting" or similar dependant on the brand of equipment.
The other point being, that if you use Rowridge for reception then engineering work has been taking place there since 27th and you might have retuned whilst the transmitters power had been reduced.

Hi, Thursday between 3pm and 8 pm HD signal kept going off = blank screen with NO SIGNAL showing for a few seconds, then came back, this morning had the TV on for 2 hours with no problem, only had the TV for 4 days so was going to ring and get another set, not sure now whether bad TV or was it signal problem from Rowridge transmitter...cheers

Hopefully your issue was down to transmitter works.
As HD are on UHF 21 and standard are on other UHF settings then it is possible to have an issue with some channels and not others. channels are transmitted on 6 different UHF settings, if one setting is not being received correctly then all channels on that setting will have issues.
However, if the problem continues you should check weather you have a group A aerial or Wideband aerial.
Group A are designed to perform well on UHF 21-37
Widebands are designed to perform on UHF 21-68 however they only perform well the higher up the UHF spectrum you go, due to this they do not perform very well on UHF 21 which is the channel you HD channels are received on.

Jamie. Thanks for the response, further info today, all hd channels started playing up this afternoon, on the menu it is the quality that drops from 10 to 0 then back up to 10. I coupled my old sony hd tv to the same aerial an ran them in tandam, whenever the pana lost its hd signal the sony was steady as a rock, does that mean it is more likely the new panaisonic tv?
