I note that posts which are ryde or disrespectful will be removed and you could be basnned, yet I notice BRIANTIST'S comment, Tues 19/4/11 being both rude and disrespectful is still there. The person asked a perfectly reasonable question. The BBC make millions and lately the head has left after a matter of months with around £1,000,000 pay off in total due to possible crimes and certainly unethical behaviour. I appreciate this doesn't necessarily relate to whether people should or shouldn't pay but it does make you think. There can be many reasons for a bad signal and it is often difficult for the novice to get help without being ripped off. As for the statement "If you have a TV you must have a licence" that is not strictly true. I probably have around half a dozen TV's in my property but no licence. The 'laws' are you need a licence to 'install and operate a TV'...not 'to have a TV in the house'.

mike: To put Briantist's statement into context, he was replying to Paul Weaire who said that he was using the TV, which is requires a licence. Most people who have one or more TVs use them and Mr Weaire said that he does. He also said that he was "reluctant to punish the BBC" by withholding his licence fee, but had "no other course of action". Use of TV equipment without a valid licence is against the law. Thus, only the illegally-acting viewer will be likely to be punished accordingly.

Mr Weaire has not made any subsequent posting to this site and was not asking for help; just reporting the issues he was having.

One of my tvs is on a low level feed and I have noticed occasional power reductions on Arq A&B from winter hill recently, no other multiplexes are affected. I assume it is due to maintenance even though no notification of work has been posted.

g allonby: It could be if it is on the line between the transmitter and receiving aerial.

I believe that the operator has a responsibility to put the issue right. The predictor suggests that you might be able to receive the full-service from Pendle Forest as well as Winter Hill, so this may be a possibility.

I was wondering, is anything transmitting now on MEN UHF57 where Channel M was?
According to the following website I sometimes look at, it says it's named as the MTN Multiplex transmitting the following channels: movies4men, movies4men+1, SONY SAB and ARGOS TV 24/7 on channels 51, 52, 53 & 54 respectively.
Are these transmitting? If so, why are they not listed on UKFreeTv? Or if they are not transmitting, why does it show on the other website? And is there any expected launch date for those channels if they aren't already transmitting?

Hi
My postcode is CH8 9BQ and I'm receiving Winter Hill transmissions as a low signal area. (The local geography means it's difficult to pick up Moel y Parc but can get Storeton Wales.) I've got a roof mounted high gain c/d group aerial on pole. The problem is that I can get all channels from 55 upwards (except 60 - hd from storeton wales) but there is no channel 54 signal (my television does have a built in freeview hd tuner)and no 53 from storeton. I'm worried that next year when the bbca and arqa move to channels 50 and 49 I won't have reception for these mux. Any help?

Richard: Fully realising that you have already stated your TV has a built in HD tuner, however I find it a bit too coincidental that in both cases its the HD channels from both transmitters that you are unable to receive a signal on, therefore for confirmation (or otherwise) that your TV is actually compatible with DVB-T2 signals could you please indicate the model of the TV in question.

Hi
Many thanks
Yes it's a panasonic tx-L32s20ba. I've had hd reception in the past but it seems to have disappeared recently in spite of retunes etc. Also channel 53 is missing which is normal quality
