Winter Hill (Bolton, England) transmitter

Since the 10th we have lost all BBC channels and the Pick TV/Dave batch as well. Tried all the re-tuning suggestions, including remocing aerial connection etc. but to no avail. Can't do a manual scan as it says there is NO SIGNAL on channels 49 and 50. Fortunately I can get BBC from the Windermere transmitter but this only has a very limited Freeview service and not the Pick TV/Dave group. It seems there are quite a few of us who seem to think there is a transmitter problem as we can get no signal on the channels that have moved. Any help appreciated!

Numerous retunes and still no BBC or Pick TV/Dave channels. Channels 49 & 50 still showing as no signal.

Just read Dave's post - I have 2 aerials combined into 1 cable: Windermere & Winter Hill. Although the BBC service from Windermere is ok, there is only a very limited Freeview service. At the moment with the 2 transmitters I can get BBC from Windermere but not Winter Hill and just about everything else except the Pick TV/Dave batch, presumably from a mix of the two. I am missing my Stargate fix from Pick TV!! If the problem is 2 aerials into 1 cable can this be readily sorted?

Dave Lindsay: - many thanks for your detailed response! The two transmitters we receive signals from are Windermere and Winter Hill. Although Kendal is nearest we cannot get reception from that transmitter. On checking it appears there is nothing from the Lancaster transmitter (although this may be possible with moving one of the aerial directions? The channels I can receive are: Windermere 44 & 47. Winter Hill: 55, 58 & 59. If I understand you correctly, you are saying that my missing channels (49 & 50)are trying to come from Windermere rather than Winter Hill, due to the likely feed split being at C51 which would explain the situation. We would be happy enough just to use the Winter Hill option as it is a better signal (and ITV Border is rubbish!)but guess I need an aerial engineer to "undo" the link. many thanks for taking the time to try and explain a likely cause for my problem. Cheers, Brian.
