TVs and boxes that do not support the 8k-mode | Switchovers

Haddington

I receive my signal from Craigkelly (34.5Km). Since June 15, I have not been able to receive channel 5 TV. (All freeview channels worked fine before that). When I tune to Ch5 I get Ch4 instead, but at a slightly lower signal level, which makes me suspect it's coming from a different transmitter. There is another transmitter (Haddington), much closer to me (1.9Km) and in a direct line with Craigkelly, but it's a different polarisation, and according to your polar diagram should be radiating almost no signal in my direction. I've tried the obvious things - re-tuning with the aerial unplugged to reset everything etc. but all to no avail.

Any suggestions?

jb38: I did try a manual scan of Ch24, which made no difference. (Is it possible to limit the scan to one transmitter? My freeview box doesn't seem to offer that option.)

Steve: Thanks for that. Jeez this stuff is complicated! The transmission path predictor suggests that I should be able to see the Haddington transmitter, but I can't - I think it's behind a stand of trees. I can see Craigkelly though (with binoculars).

Why, if Ch4/Ch5/ITV etc are all broadcast on the same mux, should my freeview box receive them all fine apart from Ch5, and choose to substitute a different channel from a different mux, from a different transmitter in place of that?

If it's going to require a new aerial I think I can well live without Ch5.

Thanks, guys! I now find that channel 5 is actually at 804, as some of you suggested. It's a perfectly good signal, so I can live with that.

The EPG lists ch5 as ch5, but says "no information". I didn't want to deliberately change to another transmitter as I would get the wrong local programmes (Black Hill and Haddington carry the West of Scotland news).
