I am also in WR5 and also using Media Centre (under Win 7). Interestingly, I have a slightly different issue in that since switchover ALL my channels have gone from 100% quality to 60% quality. After 07 September retune, all the channels on BBCA were at 60% but the others were all 100%.
Prior to 07 Sep I had no issues with signal/quality, now the "improved" Freeview leaves me worse of!

Richard, Malvern,

Thanks for the comments, good to know it's not just me !!

I have taken out my booster/splitter and am still getting 60% in MC. I also have the offsets (both + and - on some frequencies) showing at the same 60%. In addition I have these "shadow" frequencies appearing - one is even at 80%. I am also getting some Malvern frequencies showing 0% quality but when I select them and disable the others, the picture is fine.

We have lots of trees and houses around and the signal has always been bad so I'm not convinced it's a problem with too much signal. My Humax shows 70% strength and 100% quality (same aerial, the RF cable goes to the Humax and then loops through to the HTPC).

Richard, Malvern,

Just a quick PS to my previous post - in relation to your comment about the number of sources, I assume you expect 4 sources because you have two dual-tuner cards? I have a single dual-tuner card and on some channels I am getting 18 sources ...

I finally got around to trying taking out my booster to see if my quality issue in media centre was down to too much signal - and it made not a scrap of difference.

I therefore tried executing the ScanChannelsBDA_UK utility both with and without the booster and got the following results :

Ch# - Freq - Strength/Quality w/o booster - Strength/Quality with booster

C50 - 706.000 - 61% / 100% - 79% / 99%
C53 - 730.000 - 59% / 96% - 75% / 100%
C55 - 746.000 - 57% / 100% - 73% / 100%
C57 - 762.000 - 60% / 100% - 76% / 100%
C59 - 777.833 - 57% / 100% - 74% / 100%

Since I am more interested in the TV channels available on C53 than on C50 I plan to continue using the booster.

The Win 7 Media Centre "Edit sources" screen reports quality as anything between 0% and 60% on these five frequencies (plus, interesingly, 44%/99% on 738.000 which is not broadcast by Malvern!). I manually set the Malvern frequencies at the top of the list regardless of MC-reported quality and the picture on all TV channels is pretty much OK although I do get some picture break-up (not pixellation) which I didn't get before.

I still don't understand why my WMC quality is low given that I used to get 100% pre-DSO so if anyone has any more thoughts I would be happy to try any other suggestions.
