@Briantist I should have read your first paragraph, doh!

PS: I know about the transmission companies standard model, just wasn't familiar with the old NGW plots :-)

@Briantist

Just thought I'd say hi. I am a long time lurker, but only started posting a few days ago. You have a great site here, and I admire your dedication to it. I used to run a website about digital tv in the early days, so I know how much time they consume. Well done on a great resource.

Local TV - Virgin Media coverage | Local TV

Hi all,

That map isn't 'coverage' it is a map of cable franchise areas where Virgin Media hold the licence. In reality the actual coverage will be nowhere near what the map suggests. In the 80s, the Cable Authority, and then in the early 90s, the ITC licenced various local/regional cable companies. Through various takeovers and mergers these are now Virgin Media, with the exception of Wright Cable on the Isle of Wight and Small World in Lancashire area.

Obviously a lot of areas where never licenced, or failed to launch as there is a lot of white space. Sadly most of it in rural areas!

Hi Brian,

I am not having a go at you, I was just saying it's a franchise map, that's all.

Ash :-)

Great work on the revamp.

What is the obstacle getting data for local stations? Isn't there something fancy you can do using the postcode checker at www.getdigitalradio.com to feed your database.
