Thanks for the replies and making the situation clear in a manner that i can understand, i had also noticed that the com muxs at Sud were in C/D and those at Tac were in B, was going to ask the same question as Nick as to why they could not be swapped over, but i guess that seams to be the way things have gone during the switch over {nothing was ever going to be simple} doing a bit of reasearch i think I have found six main transmitters that are broadcasting coms out of the transmitters orignal group, think there may probably be some repeaters as well, so we are not the only ones to suffer. And thanks to all that post as it makes this a very informative and helpful site.

Whilst on the subject of the Olympics I noticed something the other afternoon, the living room and kitchen tv's were both on, the living room was on 301 and the kitchen on bbc1, by chance the programme that was being transmitted on 301 also started transmitting on bbc1 when that current sport had finished, I could hear the commentary from both as I walked from one room to the other and noticed that bbc1 was about 1 to 1.5 seconds behind 301.

Just a quick question regarding the channel moves, have noticed that the news channels and children's channels are still operating on there original numbers, even after October 17th deadline, will they continue to do so, had a message come up on screen to say some channel numbers have changed.

Just wanted to add my comments about the Log aerials, have recently replaced the older wideband I had with a Log 40 and can honestly say its a quality piece of kit and extremely well made, X-Beams seam to rule the roost in most places but as stated by jb38 the combination of Log and amplifier is a excellent combination.
I would also like to say that having had a look around ATV's website it is both informative and worth a look to anyone who not now needs a new aerial but also for general information about transmitters and signals, I receive my signal from Sudbury and have excellent quality and strength on all channels.

Can anyone give me an answer to a query regarding Channel 4, I called round to my nan's house on Monday (July 22nd) she has a Panasonic widescreen dtv in the living room, in the kitchen she has an old 14 inch portable with a settop box that came from tesco's.
Both have given no problems and have excellent reception, but I noticed that the Channel 4 picture had black bars at the top and bottom (larger than I had seen before) Panasonic was completely fine and I was there a couple of hours and the portable stayed the same even when the programme changed, Channel 4+1 is the same but I did not check E4 or More4, all other channels on the were completely fine with no black bars.
Is this something that Channel 4 are doing ie maybe trying out a different broadcast type or is this something at the transmitter as I know thaw have been doing engineering work, any advise would be gratefully received, thanks in advance.

MikeB no it was not an old programme it was an afternoon so we are talking Countdown and Deal or no Deal, and its also been constant so its all programmes, the black bars actually look like the ones you get if a widescreen film is being shown and watched on a 4:3 tv, it almost looks like the whole station is being broadcast in a full widescreen format.
And yes I do know about the difference between 16:9 and 4:3 ratios, it just seems strange that its happened recently, I also have and old portable myself so I decided to try that at mine with a set-top box and got exactly the same result.

Just another note to the above post, the 4:3 pan and scan option is enabled in the set-top box menu and this works ok with all the other channels, its the same setting that is enabled on my nan's set-top box as I remember setting it up for her.
I'm just wondering if there is a signal that's broadcast with the programme that enables this 4:3 pan and scan option to work, maybe its been disabled for some reason by channel 4.

Could anyone give me an answer to a quick question, I noticed last Saturday (August 17th) that Pick TV's schedule was showing Sky Sports programmes for part of the afternoon, Soccer Saturday and also the live premiership football, at the same time they were also being shown on Sky 2 as well as on the Sky Sports channel, was this just a one off as this Saturday (August 24th) Pick TV has resorted to its usual programming.

My current 15inch flat screen tv in the kitchen went wrong on Friday 24th January so rather than buying another I decided to dust off an old but perfectly working 14inch 4:3 Phillips set, I nipped to Tesco and brought a set top box and connected everything up. After tuning everything in and adjusting the settings I then set the picture mode to 4:3 pan and scan, I had already noticed on a family members old 4:3 portable with set top box that channel 4 and its sister channels had black lines top and bottom during the broadcasts and the pan and scan feature did not work on these channels (all others channels were ok) never did find out what the problem was tho.
My set top box and 4:3 portable did exactly the same with channel 4 and its sister channels too regarding the black lines, however turning on the kitchen tv on Tuesday morning 28th I noticed that BBC One also had black bars top and bottom (no other BBC channels were affected) but when it got to lunchtime and the local Look East news came on the pan and scan setting worked fine and the black bars disappeared, then after the local news finished and the usual broadcast returned the black bars returned.
Were the BBC carrying out any tests on BBC One or has something changed in the signal, the black bars are the same size as those on channel 4 and its sister channels so could it be the same sort of thing, any thoughts or help would be much appreciated.

Just a quick question, I have noticed that COM 7,8,9 have been asigned channels 31,36,37. Could they not have used these channels for COM 4,5,6 and used channels 56,58,60 for COM 7,8,9 in 2015, would that not have helped reception as channels 36 and 37 are in the range of old group B ariels. There is probably a logical explanition that im failing to see lol.
