Yep, indeed Brian although I think the list of 7 new transmitters for NI is not exhausted yet ? Thus far, we've had Enniskillen, Ballycastle, Carnmoney Hill, Ballymena and Larne which still leaves two sites from that list to come on air. I suspect these will probably be Kilkeel and South Down (Camlough or Newcastle ?). Not sure if Armagh gets as far as Newry.

I think Dermot highlights the fact that an analogue switch off by 2015 is completely unrealistic and nothing more than wishful thinking. Some interesting articles discussing this in this moth's What Hifi and HiFi Choice.

The next big DAB excpansion in the province will surely be Digital One broadcasting to NI, hopefully at the end of next year when the ROI's VHF TV transmitters are closed down. Hope this isn't wishful thinking.

What's the story with Ballycastle then Jordy ? Ballycastle was definitely mentioned on the list when the 7 transmitter sites were originally announced. Most people assumed (wrongly ?) that Maddybenny More covered the town but apparently not.

Is there an additional site for Ballycastle (i.e. similar situation to Enniskillen and Brogher coverage) ? Just wondering,

Any more word on progress re. getting Digital One in the province Jordy ? I assume this will take place late 2012 or early 2013 when the ROI clear band III ?

We should get around 10 extra stations when they appear here, plus several locals as well. This should give the province 30+ DAB stations which would be comparable to most parts of England, Scotland, and Wales that have the national commercial multiplex.

Our local commercial multiplex is also badly in need of expansion.

"BBC (Radio) London is on the general Freesat EPG listing."

Interesting Brian.

BBC Radio London is only available on Sky in NI under the other channels option. Hadn't realised it was on the Feesat EPG in NI.

Wonder if BBC Radio Foyle will eventually be on Freesat and Sky ?

"Looked for BBC Radio Foyle at Eurobird 1 & Astra 2A/2B/2D at 28.2°E - LyngSat
but could not find it. (RH163LB"

Yep, BBC Radio Foyle isn't on sattelite just yet Mark. However, I was surmising the fact that since Wales has BBC Cymru, and Scotland BBC Radio Nan Gaidheal both on Freesat, BBC Radio Foyle may come onto freesat eventually at some point ?

BBC Radio London isn't on the Sky EPG in NI so I was surprised that it's apparently on the Freesat one. (BT370UL)

"You can't "enter a postcode" with Freesat from Sky, that is the option you get with Freesat."

Indeed Brian, it's dependant on were you live. I assume Sky decide which regional variations you get by looking at the address that's associated with the viewing card ?

BBC Radio Foyle on DAB was supposedly a trial Brian, and only in the mornings (the bit rate of BBC Radio Ulster was dropped to 64 kbps to accomodate this). I would imagine it'll possibly reappear once the band is cleared next year as a result of ASO in the ROI (i.e. band III television being switched off) and NI gets some extra space.

I was thinking there was something of an anomoly in NI with respect to Scotland and Wales having their second BBC regional services on satellite when NI didn't.

More pointless TV that I'll never watch.

The one I'd really like to see on both Freeview and Freesat is Eurosport, specifically for the Tennis. But that's probably just wishful thinking.

It's about the only channel on Sky that I'd miss if I were to cancel my subscription.

Sorry to hear about your accident Brian and hope you get well soon.

Currently receiving increased signal levels from Cambrett Hill in Scotlannd, along with the 4 Freeview HD channels on a Humax Freeview HD box. They look good.

Can't wait until the DSO in NI next year.
