Try a cheap set-top aerial! It will probably get the local signal well enough, but not the distant ones.

Or the Sketchley Loop.

Just as modern high performance cars run happily on 95 octane mogas your new TV just needs a good enough one.

NOT, AFAIK.

I'm sure that in a few years all TVs will come with a built in PC so you can surf he internet on your TV. Apparently this can already be achieved in various tortuous ways - but I just want something that reads my Booadband Wireless Internet connection.

There are "Internet ready" TVs, but they seem tied to a sort of portal.

Rau - You said your problems started in April. That was when a lot of places converted to digital only, with increased power and new frequencies. So soething related to that it at minimum a serious possibility.

You have a strong signal. Wolfbane - notoriously conservative - says you need only a set-top. Have you tried one?

Have you compared notes wiith neighbours?

Ray - you have (?) tried a different TV to make sure it really IS the signal?

I often comment that what you most importantly pay a TV aerial man for is his local knowledge.

Really to replace Dave Ja Vu on Freeview

David - are you short of bits?

I watched Dave Ja Vue once, but had an uncanny sensation that I had seen it before.

By Scott I think you have it!

It does seem odd to remove facilities for all 6 million Scots in order to provide facilities available only to the 1% (60,000) of them who CAN understand Gaelic. I wonder what proportion of them - ALL also English speakers - would prefer to have the removed radio programmes?

In Wales 20% of the population speak Welsh. It seems reasonable to provide TV to that number. It is done at the price of C4 - replaced by "Sianel pimp ec" (S4C) .

Phil T - you seem to have a choice of 3 signals

with Haddington the strongest - it says here. I think the polar diagrams are a bit theoretical - especially when you are so close - as indeed is the polarisation!

NB the * reference for Black Hill - which is in broadly the same direction as craigkelly

Pauline - you seem to have a choice of two transmitters - at similar strengths - so you may be getting conflict - NB the * - where the field strength is asterisked, there is a possibility of multipath reception effects. It might be worth trying again with a greater antenna height.

Which channels are you getting on your old set? And is it the same on the new one?

Which are you using?

Just click on the "Freeview HD" link from her post - top left.

Phil - I don't know the rules your boxuses, but it is possible I think that it detects the same mux from two txs and picks different ones to put in the preferred slots 101/2/3/4/5 perhaps by postcode to give you particular versions.

As Scott says, have a look at the 800s; where duplications get put.

Can you actually see which channel you are viewing? (Can with some boxes, not others).

You can control what is scans by unplugging the ae lead when you don't want a channel. Bit hit and miss if close numbers.

A local TV Ae man may be worth his fee fir his experience.

Satellites are good too!
