What are you trying to watch, with what equipment, where? (postcode)

Did it used to work, or are you/something else new/changed?

Maggie when did you write?

Basically you need to do whatever it says in the instructions that came with your TV or box.

Pressing "Menu" then "Setup" or "Tuning" may be good.

Kari Rives

Do you know what a "Proxy Server" is? If not, google it.

I have heard that all BBCi stuff, as well as live TV, is available via a UK proxy!

jb38 - Indeed! Though the point here is to appear to be in the UK.

I doubt if any illegality is involved. IIRC you don't even sign anything to access BBC websites, so they clearly impose no civil obligations either.

I suspect the BBC gives not a fig, so long as it is just for personal use. But because they don't have overseas rights to a lot of their content have to make some impression of limiting it.

Freeview reception - all about aerials | Installing
Saturday 29 December 2012 12:50AM

Is aerial in loft?

Plumbers might easily have

- moved it
- damaged wiring
- disconnested power to amp/splitter
- disconnected wires/plugs
- installed/left something spoiling signal.

Start with an inspection; then a call to them!

Tommy if you have a strong signal you MIGHT find the sat dish - or rather the wire to it - will work.

As might a bent coathanger.

Clare - Yes.

You have to think of receiving TV as requiring two different things

1) A TUNER that will receive terrestial or satellite trnasmissions and then select the one you want to watch. Or these days, will receive a TV signal from the interwebby thingy.

2) A MONITOR to display a TV picture. That can come from a Tuner, or a recording - VCR/DVD/Blueray/PVR. Or a Camera

What we call a TV classically combined an analogue tuner with a monitor. More modern TVs almaost all have a Digital Terrestial "Freeview" tuner built in.

So with your TV remote you can choose to watch yout TV's tuner on your TVs monitor.

OR you can watch something input througa na AV(SCART) input, or a modern HDMI. For example a Freesat Tuner Box. Or a Freeview HD box.

Talking SKY HD boxes, are there no "fixes" to make them record without a subscription?
