My Freeview box has no EPG, is blank on FIVE, ITV3, ITV4, ITV2+Monday 13 June 2016 1:25PM

I live in SO45 5QU and have little or no reception of BBC News HD, BBC FOUR HD, several other HD channels, 5USA+1 and TalkingPicturesTV. It is possible that these are on the same multiplex.
A couple of months ago I cleared the channel list and rescanned. All of the missing channels were then present. Gradually, over the past couple of weeks, all have become too weak to view.
I use an internal aerial and this has proved to be more than capable of very good reception right across Freeview.
Is there an explanation as to why I can't view these channels?

Hi Mike,
To be honest I would expect to receive a fine reception using an indoor aerial. This is what was promised when we all went 'didgy' back in 2012. As to the bits you refer to - apologies, but I don't know what you're taking about. I don't know which lead is the 'fly lead' and I've no idea what a 'mux' is. My guess is that this is industry-speak for 'multiplex'. Would I be able to find a list of the actual multiplexes in the Rowridge transmitter?

The link you gave me has pin-pointed the 'mux' in question - "com7". All stations on that multiplex have become too weak to be seen. Would you know why that is? Would there be a way for this to be improved for me?

Hi again Richard,
One other mux is weak as well - "LSO". It looks like the strength of the signal is related to the wattage. The standard looks like 200,000W. The two I have issues with are 24,400W and 10,000W respectively.

BBC4 HD and several other channels are on Rowridges two lowest-powered multiplexes - namely 10,000 and 24,400 watts. As I only have an indoor aerial I can't receive any of the channels on the two muxes.
Strange, though, that during the Olympics BBC4 HD returned - with no problems. Now that the Games are over the HD channel has disappeared.
Is there any way for me to appeal to the 'powers-that-be' that run Rowridge to increase the power to these two muxes?
All other channels, on the 200,000 watt muxes, are fine. Installing an external aerial isn't an option for me.

Hi StevensOnln1,
From what you're saying I can't receive COM7 or COM8 via my internal aerial. If these are due to close in 202 what will become of the stations they carry?
Obviously, I may have seriously look into an getting external aerial - and that's going to be difficult.
If I wasn't surrounded by trees I'd ditch Freeview in favour of Freesat :-(

Thank you for your help so far. In the web page that you directed me to the channels in question require "Freeview HD equipment". My television is about a year old and is HD. Do you know of any other equipment available that would allow me to receive the channels on COM7 and COM8?

I'll dig out my user manual - providing I can find the disk :-D As to aerial direction - mine's internal, so that might limit what I can receive.

Good morning jb38,
Thank you for your recommendation. I am surrounded by trees, so that might cause problems with lower-powered muxes. My television is the Samsung 24E390. Doing a search through the manual I can't find any reference to DVB-T2. It is an HD television and the reception of the available HD channels - includding BBC1HD on channel 101 - via my indoor aerial is excellent. I'm not sure how to 'enter' C31 (COM7). I'll have a look later on this evening.

Wednesday, 24 August 2011: BBC2, ITV1 and C4 (all analogue) went off air late last night. I note that there is engineering work over this week. Is it possible for you to state when stations will be off air?
I currently do not have digital. I will need to install an aerial or satellite dish first of all. That will not happen this week.
