R de Silva: Both of those channels changed frequency at the Oxford transmitter on 1st March. You should be able to restore them by retuning.

I used to receive BBC Northwest regional news here in Ramsey Isle Of Man (this is the area we should be able to see regional news for i.e. BBC Northwest) covering the IOM.
Recent retuning has resulted in us now receiving BBC NE & Cumbria.
This is not the news we need to listen to. The Isle Of Man does not feature in this news at all.
We have an aerial pointing at Caldbeck.
It seems the BBC has decided to drop BBC Northwest from this transmitter as far as I can tell.
Any idea why I have lost North West regional news. Or any idea how I can restore my original news.
Thanks
Tony Beck

Hi,
I live near to Skegness and receive my Freeview signals from the Belmont transmitter which is about 20 miles away.
I have no problems receiving HD channels during the day, but after 6 p.m. I lose all HD channel above 106, including BBC News (107) which is most frustrating. On check signal strength I get 0% Signal and 0% quality, whereas during the day I ca get 100% for both.
Why?
Regards,
Paul Bowden.

Paul Bowden:

Do you (or a very close neighbour) have any electrical equipment that comes on at 6.pm. This sounds a bit like a classic case of electrical interference.

The other possibility is we are talking about HD channels that are on COM7 which is on UHF C55. This UHF frequency can be prone to interference from HDMI cables if you have a DVR or other device that you turn on. Make sure your HDMI cables are well away from any aerial or flyleads, especially if those leads aren't high quality double screened coax.

Is there any way I can get London area news from the Hannington Transmitter? I am in a London transmitter dead spot

Brian: Hannington only carries BBC One South and ITV Meridian. All of the BBC regions are available on iPlayer, which is probably the easiest way to watch a different region if you don't have a satellite dish.

I currently very little volume when tuning in to BBC News channel 231. Putting the volume output to maximum only gives low volume through the speakers. All other channels (BBC1,BBC2 etc) work with a "normal" level of volume set. Can yopu advise why I should be getting a low volume on this channel. Thanks in advance for your help

Hi. Do you still have this strange problem? If not, it may have been a "passing" technical problem that's been resolved. If you've still got this, perhaps check with neighbours if they have the same issue which would narrow it down a bit. We don't know which transmitter you receive, so would need a full postcode to check, if it's an ongoing problem.

Thanks for your reply Chris. I checked and updated the firmware on the humax pvr I use for freeview and this seems to have cured the isolated low volume issue. Thanks again for the prompt response
