Tim: Freesat is also an alternitive if you want more channels and can't receive Divis.

Unionhall: Why Clermont Cairn ? Would you not get better reception from either Three Rock or Kippure ?

Still, I suppose it's better to wait until the 24th October befopre doing anything.

Brian: The Black Mountain coverage looks like that of the 5 watt PSB relay for west Belfast, not the 2 kw NI mux transmitter which has fairly extensive coverage(at least according to Ofcom and Digital UK's postcode checker.

It definitely doesn't look correct.

Yes, it might be better to wait until then.

I'm receiving Carnmoney Hill off an aerial pointing towards Clermont Cairn, which is roughly the same direction but the wrong group, and this is despite poor analogue reception, so you just never know. It was a copmplete surprise yesterday.

I'm more optomistic than I was about C.C. when the power increases on the 24th, which supposedly will happen at 1 p.m.

If there's nothing at your location on the 24th I'd defrinitely try either Three Rock or Kippure.

I gather the new BBC A multiplex from Kilkeel is being received well in Skerries, according to reports on Digital Spy and Boards.ie

Tim: It also depends on your location.

In and around Kings Park Divis reception appears to be fine, post DSO, along with the NI mux from Black Mountain, according to Digital UK's postcode checker. Along the Dough Road it would appear to be very poor, and doesn't improve until you get up as far as the Manse Road, so you never know until you try.

I'm in Jordanstown and the BBC A multiplex is excellent after the power increase yesterday. I'm also receiving Carnmoney Hill off an RTE aerial (Clermont Cairn) at reasonably good strength, despite analogue reception being poor.

Then again, I can see the Carnmoney Hill transmitter from my bedroom window !

P.S. Divis would also appear to be O.K. down around the Abbot's Cross area and Rathcool, post D.S.O.

It should be better than the 2kw would suggest Brian, at least according to Digital UK's postcode checker.

Even the 16W from Carnmoney Hill seems to get out well.

The 24th should be interesting.

Brian: Re. the LCNs for the NI mux. The EPG numbers will apparently be 51:TG4, 52:RTE1, 53:RTE2 and 729:RnaG, as far as I'm aware (at least according to Boards.ie a few days ago).

The reason why TG4 is at 51 rather than 53 is because the agreement resulting in the NI mux was tp promote the Irish language in the province as a result of the Good Friday agreement and MOU, hence RnaG rather than RTE Radio One for example. The fact we have RTE One and RTE Two on the mux is really a bonus.

Still, Roll on next Wednesday !

Brendan: According to Digital UK's postcode checker, you should be getting excellent reception from both Divis and Carnmoney Hill post DSO, as well as the NI mux from Black Mountain and Carnmoney Hill.

Dave could be right, though this shouldn't affect Film Four at this stage.

The BBC 1 and BBC 2 problem could be caused by signal overload, so you may need to get someone out to either remove/bypass an amplifier, or fit an attenuator.

Gail: I've no idea as I don't know what the set up proceedures are on your T.V.

However, after the 24th there should be no need to switch to analogue T.V. as all analogue signals will be switched off on that date.

I presume you are receiving Carnmoney Hill as this is the first time you've actually had Freeview stations ?

Wait until next Wednesday when you'll no longer need analogue T.V.
