Hi, We've been without Freeview for 6 days now. We rely entirely n the Hollingbury/Patcham transmitter for Freeview. We only get Freeview Light, so at the best of times we only get a reduced service. Is there any update on when the works on the transmitter are going to end?

Bob Reeve: Arqiva (the company who operate the transmitter) don't publish details of what the works are or a completion date, as it can be affected by factors beyond their control such as weather conditions. Patcham is a relay of Whitehawk Hill, which has also had engineering work listed for the last few weeks, which may reduce the signal being received and retransmitted by Patcham.

This is extremely unusual that you would be without signal for so long due to engineering work, especially as it appears the BBC multiplexes are now Line fed, and the D3&4/PSB2 is off-air from Rowridge.
Did you perchance retune when you had no signal?
If so, I'm afraid that was the worst thing to do, it would most likely have cleared your correct tuning, I assume you were previously correctly tuned.
You cannot tune to signals that are not there or are badly pixellated that can't be decoded.
If this was the case, try retuning again.
Also do other basic checks, such as make sure your aerial looks intact and is still pointing correctly. Also that the coax downlead isn't flapping in the wind, and that you have no corrosion or water in any accessible coax connections.
Another possibility is that your reception may be being wiped out by a new or upgraded mobile phone mast causing interference. Put your postcode here to check -

I too have the same issue as Bob Reeve has posted - first notice (on bedroom TV) that only has freeview, on Wed 17th Apr. Only have BBC related DTV channels and some Radio - missing ITV, C4, C5 etc etc. I did retune as well and only finding about 10 DTV channels as opposed to many others that we usually get...
Glad someone else has posted as pulling my hair out thinking it is a problem in our house... I see engineering work has been updated - hopefully this will fix the issues caused last week.

StevensOnln1: Thanks Steve and Chris. I'll check for a phone mast issue (not the first time here, we had a new filter 3 years ago) but BBC Channels -TV and Radio - are all on and excellent reception. None of the commercial channels broadcasting at all. I did retune initially and have retuned daily but no joy, and another set I have which wasn't retuned is still not getting ITV etc. I'm not alone. Lots of folk here are the same. A few can get a signal from the next nearest transmitter (Whitehawk, full Freeview) but its likely to be intermittent. Even fewer can pick up the Isle of Wight transmitter, weak signal. Because most people are on the north facing slopes of the South Downs only the Patcham transmitter works for us. M Wickham, Bob Reeve: It sounds like the issue could be related to the work at Rowridge. The multiplex (PSB2) which carries ITV1, Channel 4 and others is received off-air from Rowridge by Patcham. The two other multiplexes are the responsibility of the BBC and arrive at the transmitter over fibre.
A single digital TV broadcast signal known as a multiplex or 'mux' carries multiple programme channels. This is unlike with analogue where each programme channel was transmitted on a signal of its own. Thus, loss of a single multiplex will result in loss of multiple programme channels. It is a case of working out which multiplex or multiplexes are missing.
Patcham transmits three multiplexes, the three PSBs, or public service broadcasters.
PSB1 - BBC A - BBC standard definition TV and BBC radio
PSB2 - D3&4 - ITV1, Channel 4, Channel 5 and some ITV1 and Channel 4 sister channels
PSB3 - BBC B - All HD channels, BBC and non-BBC

Rather than resetting and carrying out automatic tuning, use the manual tuning facility to scan the appropriate UHF channel for the required multiplex from Patcham. Automatic tuning takes time and looks through all the channels. Manual tuning focuses in on only the actual channels that are used and which are required. Channel numbers for Patcham are:
PSB1 - C29
PSB2 - C31
PSB3 - C37

Hi. Just FYI, the filter you probably had previously would most likely have been for 800MHz. The new one would be for the 700MHz band which would also clobber 800MHz so would be substituted.
