Granny S.: Because the switchover happened last night, you will need to do a "first time installation" to your box, you can do it this way - My Freeview box has no EPG, is blank on FIVE, ITV3, ITV4, ITV2+1, has no sound or the channel line up is wrong | ukfree.tv - independent free digital TV advice .

Chris: Yes, the Ridge Hill West transmission is a 'mini-mux' carrying only ITV1 and ITV1 +1. The legal framework does allow D3&4 to broadcast BBC channels, but the BBC would have to come to an agreement with the ITV companies and Channel 4 over how much it would cost.
The BBC have never shown any interest in providing a BBC West service to this area. The ITV service was only added in December 2006.

How is the HD channels working for you lot? I'm not getting anything. I was looking forward to checking out freeview HD on my new Bravia but after the re-tune I can't seem to find them. I've set my tv to factory default settings and re-tuned the built in freeview. No luck. All of the other SD channels are fine, though.

Mr K: You must have a Freeview HD set, not just an HD Ready one. Please see What does "Full HD Ready" actually mean? | ukfree.tv - independent free digital TV advice .

Thank you for your reply, Briantist. It's a Bravia KDL32EX403U with built in Freeview HD. Sorry, I should have made that clearer in my original post. I'm thinking that it might be my signal strength. Would 38 out of 100 be high enough to receive a HD signal?

Mr K: The signal strength is not really the most important thing, go by the signal quality.
If you have any booster, amplifiers or similar in your system, remove them as they tend to destroy the digital signals.

Re-tuned all 4 Freeview TVs this morning and getting signal break-up on some channels on the bedroom sets that use portable aerials. OK before today. Are some signals weaker than before? If so, I hope this is a temporary problem. And what channel is ITV West news on? Maybe 800 or 801?
link to this comment |
David Bate: No the signals are considerably stronger than before.
ITV West is on 803 usually.

Ok, thanks again for your help. I suspect that it is the splitter I'm using that could be the problem and that I will have to look at a more direct way of getting the signal to my TV.
