Hi,
My postcode is BN16 1RB (East Preston)
I have a wideband aerial on the roof pointing at Rowbridge.

I am just installing a Humax HDR-FOX T2 HD+ PVR.

Get all MUXs Ok except for one - C24, C27, C30,C33 and C37 all ok, C21 (HD MUX) no signal at all.

Have checked this on 2 other (non-HD) digi-boxes and both show zero signal on C21.

Prior to the digital swithover I believe C4 was on C21, and we had no problems receiving this. Any ideas? Thanks.

One further comment to add to my previous 'no C21' signal problem.
The TV that I have the Humax connected to is not HD or HD ready (so obviously I will not be able to watch HD TV!). However I am assuming that the Humax tuners should still be able to 'see' C21 if a transmission signal is being received.

Is there perhaps a signal between an HD TV and a digital tuner, without which tuning of the HD MUX is inhibited, and hence zero signal level is displayed? This could also account for why my other 2 non HD digiboxes also show zero signal for C21.

Have just purchased new Samsung tv from Comet which switches itself off after a few minutes. Have contacted Comet about this problem and was told it is a problem with signal transmission from IOW arial. Are they right about this reason and why is it occuring?
I am making this enquiry on behalf of a friend.

Ray Gusta: Although some TV's can switchover to standby if no signals are received for a given period of time I think that what you have been told is a bit far fetched to say the least.

What is the model number of the Samsung?

Thanks for that Gerald, it all works ok now.
I wish the man on the Humax help-line had given similar advice when I first encountered the problem. I would have saved myself four hours of trial and tribulation!(He said the transmitter must be down!).

Thanks again

Gerald C. May: Just purely out of interest although being fully aware that manual tuning will in most cases succeed where auto-tuning fails, this obviously being the reason that you advised John to carry out that procedure, but did you find that in your own case that you also had to use this method? as it shouldn't really have proved as being necessary as that's the whole point about "auto" tuning, being, that you should not require to enter any details into the box whatsoever to receive anything within the coverage area of the transmitter irrespective of whether you are dealing with SD or HD, and with this fact being mostly likely why Humax had told John that the transmitter might be down as its about the only thing that could cause that type of problem, although one that's liable to give rise to suspicion that a problem might exist with the software on that model. (Latest software indicated as version 1.02.20)

Looking forward to your reply.

jb38:
Perhaps I should explain why I was doing a manual tune. I didn't want any channels other than those from the Rowbridge transmitter. On an auto-tune I was picking up a number of the higher MUXs.
I have previously used a Humax PVR9300, which gave occasional problems with the recording schedule, which Humax put down to having these higher MUXs present. They recommended a manual tune to minimise this problem.

When I spoke to the Humax help-line early yesterday re. my problem with C21, I made them fully aware that I was tuning manually, and that it was the HD channel That I couldn't get.
