In the last week my picture has started to break up. I have reset my freeview, BBC channels are most effected
Has something changed at the transmitted, has the transmitter a problem or has the signal strength been reduced?
best regards
Brian

Once yesterday (13th March 2015) and many times today the Tx has gone off (signal level goes from high to nil) for a minute or more on all channels, TV, Radio, Data, HD etc. confirmed on two separate decoders. This is still happening at 1500 14/03/2015.

Robert Smith: You need to give a postcode, becuase otherwiese we have no idea as too what your signal should be like. However, if its going from 0 to 100, etc, then thats sounds like too much signal. Search for 'too much of a good thing' on this site.

Hemel Hempstead

Within the last 3 weeks our HD channels have disappeared completely. Up until then they had been great. Also, now the SD channels such as BBC1/2 etc come and go, but most of the time are not watchable. Nothing else has changed here at my end and so I was wondering if anything had changed at the HH transmitter.

I have tried a new Booster and new Antiference device but nothing appears to help. We live in HP3 0LL

Gary Briggs: Indications suggest that you are receiving Freeview from the Hemel Hempstead Town transmitter located at just over 1 mile away, no faults being listed against the transmitter nor is any engineering work taking place at the station, therefore although you have tried a few measures to overcome the problem such as trying a new booster, your best policy would be to ascertain if the problem is actually associated with your installation or not by checking with some other household in the area to find out if they are also suffering from similar problems with reception.

My reason for suggesting this being two fold, the first being the fact of the signal path from the low powered (8 watts) transmitter being obstructed by dense vegetation in the Felden Lane area, secondly that there is also the possibility of 4G being involved, as the frequencies used by H / Town transmitter are in the range potentially most affected by any 4G transmission tests possibly being conducted in the area.
